Naples Car Rental

Naples was the most important city of Magna Graecia and the capital of the Kingdom of Naples for over 500 years. It is a city of unique charm that captivates visitors with its mysterious atmosphere.

Full of history and life, visiting Naples will evoke unforgettable emotions and immerse you in a place with a thousand faces, where art and history mix with natural beauty, folklore and excellent local cuisine.

To truly understand the unique character of this city, we recommend seeing it by car. In fact, by renting a car in Naples you can visit not only the attractions of the city centre, but also the surrounding areas, which hide unexpected surprises.

What to see in Naples: the historic centre

It’s not easy to make a list of the places to visit in Naples, capital of Campania, because there are so many must-see sights in and around the city centre.

If you arrive in the city by plane, you can go to Maggiore’s Naples car rental office in Capodichino, which is just two minutes from the airport. However, if you arrive by train, you can rent a car at the Naples Central Station office.

With Maggiore, you can be sure of choosing a professional partner who has made the safety and reliability of its vehicles its “trademark.”

Once you have your car, you can set off to discover the city, starting from the centre where unique attractions await you such as the magnificent Piazza Plebiscito with its majestic Royal Palace and the San Carlo Theatre, the famous Via Decumano Maggiore with its Duomo, and Spaccanapoli, with its countless treasures such as Cappella Sansevero, which houses the beautiful “Veiled Christ”, and the Complex of Santa Chiara, which preserves masterpieces by Giotto and Tino da Camaino.

Don’t miss a visit to the Church of Gesù Nuovo, the famous craft workshops of San Gregorio Armeno and the equally famous underground Naples, with its Greco-Roman artefacts.

Just outside the city centre, we recommend a visit to the National Archaelogical Museum of Naples (MANN), which houses many of the finds from Pompeii and Ercolano, the beautiful Capodimonte museum and its huge park, the Virgilian Park or “Parco della Rimembranza” and the magnificent Certosa di San Martino, which became a museum in 1866.

Some of the most beautiful places in Naples include the Gaiola beach, which offers a breath-taking view of Vesuvius, the Marechiaro cliff, where you can take a dip in the sea, and the Baia delle Rocce Verdi, a peaceful spot on the Posillipo hill.

If Naples has so much to offer, the same can be said for the surrounding areas. In fact, the areas around Naples are all worth discovering!

What to visit in and around Naples

There are as many places to visit around Naples as there are treasures in the city centre, and you can easily reach them with a rental car.

In about 30 minutes you can reach the famous Campi Flegrei, which offers so many things to see and admire. We recommend a visit to the Archaeological Park of Cuma, which includes the famous Antro della Sibilla, Baia, a famous spa town and home to the Aragonese Castle, Pozzuoli, where the Flavian amphitheatre and the Temple of Serapis await you, and of course the fascinating archaeological park of Pompeii.

Just 35 km from Naples is Caserta and its majestic Reggia (Royal Palace), designed by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli and a UNESCO Heritage site since 1997.

If you’re in the mood for sea and sun, then take the car and head to Sorrento, where between a tour of the town and a trip to the beach, we suggest you have a nice lunch of gnocchi alla sorrentina, stuffed squid and lemon delight.

Returning to the city, nature trips in and around Naples should certainly include the Vesuvius National Park and the islands of the Gulf of Naples. Ischia, the most popular and well known, Procida, the smallest and least touristy, and Capri, the most glamourous and elite.

Opting to rent a car in Naples will allow you to fully enjoy the beauty of the city and the surrounding areas for a stay that will live in your heart forever.
