A tour of the splendid the Savoy Residences

and the magnificent long, lowlying hills known as the Langhe

Do you want an experience filled with emotions in one of the most cultured and classy regions of Italy? Rent a Maggiore car, fasten your seat belts and start your tour of excellence in Piedmont region!

Our tour starts with an authentic gem: 15 minutes on the Provincial Road of Reggia/SP501 from Turin Caselle airport is Reggia di Venaria one of the Savoy residences that was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Reggia di Venaria was commissioned by Duke Carlo Emanuele II as a hunting lodge, and is today one of the largest royal residences in the world, with treasures of immense value such as the Galleria Grande and the Chapel of Sant'Uberto.

Reggia di Venaria is a triumph of the arts and natural beauty. The Gardens of the Reggia and La Mandria Park are a magnificent 3,000 hectare nature reserve and home of numerous species of wild animals such as deer, foxes, herons and squirrels. Just as beautiful is Castello della Mandria which is located in the park, the favourite residence of the first King of Italy with its fabulous Royal Apartments rich in history and art.

After admiring the wonders of past, a breath of contemporary art is just what you need! Follow the signboards to Castello di Rivoli, 16 km along the A55/E64, to visit the Museum of Contemporary Art which was once used as military barracks.

To complete this tour of wonders, take the A55/E70 and drive to Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, once used as a venue for the sumptuous parties of the House of Savoy; then continue along the A6/E717 to the Royal Castle of Racconigi, where the Savoy often came on holiday.

After this tour of the places most loved by the court of Savoy, the time has come to relax and enjoy an unforgettable gourmet experience... in places of beauty with gastronomic specialities that are unique in the world.

Behind the wheel of your Maggiore car, drive along the SP29 to the Langhe in lower Piedmont between the provinces of Cuneo and Asti; in 2014, a part of the Langhe was inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage list.

The picturesque, hilly area of Langhe is the ideal place to relax and enjoy unique products such as DOP cheeses, sweet round hazelnuts, truffles, S. Andrea and Baraggia rice, Carmagnola pepper, Cuneo red apples and many other local specialities. The many trattorias along the way really care about what they serve and you have many delicious local dishes to choose from, such as agnolotti del plin, tajarin with truffles, robiola cheese, fassona beef carpaccio and bagna cauda.

Along the way there are many delightful villages to visit such as Bergolo, with its sandstone houses streets, where simply everything is picturesque or the medieval, elegant village Neive, or Grinzane Cavour named after Camillo Benso count of Cavour, who was mayor for 20 years.
