Trentino Alto Adige

An unforgettable tour of the Dolomites

Are you looking for a holiday filled with exciting new flavours and sensations? Why not go on a road trip that will take you to realms bordering between a fairy tale and reality, on a tour that will take you away far from the stress and frenzy of everyday life.

Rent a Maggiore car in Bolzano, continue on highway SS241 in the direction Val di Fassa to catch your first breath-taking glimpse of the peaks of the Dolomites.

Continue for about 26 km, until you reach Lake Carezza, a delightful alpine lake that glitters with a thousand shades, from emerald green to blue. The perfect time to go snowshoeing is during the winter months, when the lake is frozen and the mountain paths are blanketed with snow!

Continue by car in the direction of Moena, known as the Magical Fairy of the Dolomites thanks to the rocks that surround it, which change colour with the position of the sun, to become almost magically ethereal, giving visitors an enchanting spectacle.

Continuing on the SS241 in the direction of Canazei, continue to Arabba and from there, continue on highway SS244 to reach Corvara in Alta Badia.

You are now in the heart of a spectacular location on the Sellaronda massif, where incredible plays of light and shadow alternate throughout the day and the mountains turn pink: this is known as the Enrosadira (alpenglow), a marvellous effect of nature that is repeated every day, at sunrise and sunset, and is a symbol of the Dolomites, a Unesco World Heritage Site.

It takes just 55 minutes to drive your Maggiore car safely to Corvara, 1,568 meters above sea level, and in a few kilometres, you can stop and visit Colfosco, La Villa, San Cassiano and Badia. All these villages have small restaurants where you can enjoy platters of delicious speck and alpine cheeses, polenta and hot soups.

Continuing on the SS244, in just an hour you reach Brunico, in the Trentino Alto Adige region. At Brunico we suggest you park your car and take a stroll in the pedestrian area, to see the fashion stores, places of artistic interest and shops that sell wonderful home textiles, in natural fibres embroidered with Alpine designs. For those with a sweet tooth, we suggest a stop at one of the many pastry shops along the street to enjoy a taste the best apple strudels and Sacher cakes in the region.

After your visit to Brunico, continue on the E66 in the direction of Bressanone, the artistic and cultural capital of Val Pusteria. After a stop in the city to visit to the Cathedral of Bressanone, a beautiful example of Baroque art, go back to your guide and continue your journey on the A22 in the direction of Modena.

Turn off at the Val Gardena exit, and then continue for 38 km on highways SS12 and SS242 to reach Ortisei. In the centre of this beautiful village, a visit to the church of Sant'Ulrico is an absolute must; then take the fast cable car to the Siusi Alps stopping for refreshments before breath-taking views.
